Velodrome racing season is here!  April is going to be busy at the Velodrome!

Friday Night Racing at Alkek Velodrome!

The 2010 Friday Night Race Series will be broken up into a Spring and Fall season. While both seasons will count towards the Alkek Rider of the Year standings, the top rider in each category for both the Spring and Fall seasons will be recognized.

Spring Dates:
April 2, 9, 16, 30
May 7, 14, 21
June 4, 11, 18

Start: 7:00pm (registration closes at 6:30pm)

Format: Omnium

Payout: Graduated payout (money in = money out)

This event was an awesome experience not from an individual standpoint but bring a bike community from all over into Austin during SXSW.  There had to have been 700+ people riding during the social and it ran pretty smoothly.  The cops were cooperative, the leaders did their thing to make sure they controlled the traffic and everyone simply just took it in.

You may say this is just a critical mass ride. It was ran safely and organized. It showed the reputation of organized chaos keeping everyone safe and rocking out at the same time. Austin is just a pleasing place to do urban rides. A lot of sites, hills and plenty of hoots & hollers for the riders. Social Cycling ATX did an awesome job of leading the pack around our ride. Keith Byrd did an awesome job controlling the crowds and cuing the group leaders.

PedalHouston is heading to Austin tonight to endure in the clamor and mayhem people call SXSW.  Fun times with fun people are to be had.  Going to hopefully meet some new faces and run into maybe some old ones as well.  If you are going to be at the convention or even in Austin, use that @pedalhouston tag on twitter and hit it up!  Let’s meet up – whether it be 9am, 2pm, 10pm or 5am!
